The iPhone 15 Plus is Apple's latest addition to its lineup, featuring a larger 6.7-inch display that promises an immersive visual experience. The Super Retina XDR display, with its edge-to-edge design, offers stunning clarity and brightness, making it perfect for everything from watching movies to browsing photos. The OLED panel ensures deep blacks and vibrant colours, providing a true-to-life viewing experience that sets it apart from many other smartphones on the market. Whether you're outdoors in bright sunlight or indoors with low ambient light, the display adjusts perfectly to provide optimal visibility.
One of the key upgrades in the iPhone 15 Plus is its camera system, which continues to push the boundaries of smartphone photography. The dual-camera system, featuring a 48MP main sensor and an ultra-wide lens, allows users to capture sharp, detailed images even in challenging lighting conditions. The introduction of Photonic Engine enhances image processing, ensuring that colours are more accurate and that every shot captures the fine details you expect. Night mode has also been improved, making low-light photography more accessible, with clearer, brighter images that retain their natural look without the need for flash.
Performance-wise, the iPhone 15 Plus is powered by the A16 Bionic chip, which Apple claims offers significant improvements in both speed and efficiency. This chip, with its 6-core CPU and 5-core GPU, delivers seamless multitasking and gaming experiences, making it suitable for everything from casual browsing to intensive applications. The chip's advanced 16-core Neural Engine enhances machine learning capabilities, allowing for smarter photography, augmented reality experiences, and more personalised user interactions. This means that the iPhone 15 Plus not only handles today's apps and tasks with ease but is also prepared for the innovations of tomorrow.
The iPhone 15 Plus comes equipped with iOS 17, offering a host of new features and improvements that enhance usability. One of the standout features is the updated Contact Posters, allowing users to customise how they appear in calls, messages, and other interactions. Additionally, NameDrop simplifies sharing contact information by simply bringing two iPhones close together, a nod to the convenience and intuitiveness that Apple continues to build into its devices. iOS 17 also introduces improvements to Messages, FaceTime, and AirDrop, making communication easier and more engaging.
Battery life on the iPhone 15 Plus is impressive, thanks in part to the power efficiency of the A16 Bionic chip. Apple promises all-day battery life, which should be more than enough for most users' needs. Whether you're streaming video, playing games, or using GPS navigation, the iPhone 15 Plus is designed to keep up without requiring constant recharging. When it does come time to charge, the iPhone 15 Plus supports both MagSafe and Qi wireless charging, offering convenience for users who prefer a cable-free experience.
In terms of design, the iPhone 15 Plus continues Apple's tradition of sleek, minimalist aesthetics. The device is available in a range of colours, including black, blue, green, yellow and pink and it features an aerospace-grade aluminium frame that not only looks premium but also adds durability. The Ceramic Shield front cover offers added protection against drops and scratches, ensuring that the iPhone 15 Plus remains as pristine as possible throughout its use. The device is also IP68 water and dust-resistant, meaning it can withstand being submerged in up to six metres of water for 30 minutes, a feature that adds peace of mind for those unexpected spills or drops into water.
Apple has also made strides in sustainability with the iPhone 15 Plus. The device is made with recycled aluminium and rare earth elements, continuing Apple's commitment to reducing its environmental impact. Even the packaging has been redesigned to minimise waste, using recycled materials and reducing the use of plastic. This makes the iPhone 15 Plus a more environmentally friendly choice for those who are conscious of their ecological footprint.
The iPhone 15 Plus is priced at $1,649 for the 128GB model, $1,849 for the 256GB model, and $2m199 for the 512GB model. It was released on 22 September 2023, and is available for purchase through Apple’s online store, physical retail stores, and authorised resellers.

The previous Plus was a bit like an unloved stepchild, in that it didn't sell in the same number as, for instance, last year's Pro Max. This year's model gets all the same benefits as the standard iPhone 15 – USB-C, the Dynamic Island, the A16 Bionic chip and a 48MP main camera – but could be another great update that gets ignored by consumers in favor of the biggest and best iPhone available.
Reasons to buy
- + Capable new 48MP main camera
- + USB-C (finally)
- + Dynamic Island and thinner bezels
Reasons to avoid
- - No Action button
- - Still 60Hz display
- - Same data speeds as 14 Plus
