Apple iPod Nano 6th Generation

The Apple iPod Nano 6th Generation was, as the name suggests, the sixth iteration in Apple's iPod Nano series of compact music players. It was a device targeted to a specific niche of the market, that is, people who want music while they exercise. It was considerably smaller than the 5th Generation iPod Nano.

Design and features

The 6th Generation Nano comes with a 1.54 inch TFT display made of Arsenic-free display glass. The screen is capable of multi-touch functionality and is very easy to navigate. The Nano is 37.5 mm in width, 40.9 mm in length and 8.78 mm in thickness. It weighs approximately 21.1g. There is a clip integrated on the back that will allow you to clip the Nano onto your collar, sleeve, pocket or any other suitable surface. On the top, you will find the sleep/wake button and the volume control buttons and on the bottom, you will see the iPod dock connector and the 3.5mm earphone jack.
The interface on the 6th generation Apple iPod Nano has looks a bit like the iOS interface. You will notice up-to 4 rounded corner icons on the screen at one time, and 4 such screens that you can navigate by swiping with your finger on the screen. To return to the home screen from inside an app, you can either swipe right or touch and hold the center of the screen until it pops up. To move icons, touch and hold on the icon till icons wobble, and then move them around. When you are done, hit the button placed on top to lock them back into place. You can also rotate the interface screen to your preference by placing two fingers on your screen and turning them in the direction your want to rotate.
The Nano supports MP3, AAC, MP3 VBR, Apple Lossless AIFF, HE-AAC, and WAV formats while giving an audio playback of about 24 hours. You are given nine audio-related apps in the menu. It also adds the feature to edit your playlists and create new ones on the device itself. On top of the playlist you are provided with two buttons – 'Clear' and 'Edit', and on top of the list of playlists, you get the 'Add' button.
There are five other apps which are redesigned versions of apps from the old Nano, such as fitness, radio tuner, clock, settings, voice memos and photos. A built-in pedometer and Nike+ support makes the fitness app on the Nano an app worth using for fitness fanatics, who are the main target demographic for this device. Another impressive app is the radio tuner app, which is a legitimate FM tuner. You can mark your favorite stations, view a list of recently-played songs on the stations and even tag songs for purchase on iTunes later. You can also pause the live stream of a radio for up-to 15 minutes. The Voice Memos and Photos apps are also quite useful.
The Apple iPod Nano holds up-to 24 hours of playback on one full charge of the 105mAh battery. This means you can full day of music playback and other usage without running out of charge. But, realistically, you may not listen to music for 24 hours straight, and can probably go several days without having to plug in the charger.

The Apple iPod Nano price in Malaysia begins as low as RM 436 for the 6th Generation 8GB and RM 513 for the 16GB version. If you are a person who loves their music while exercising and wants to have a good quality, compact music player, this is one of the best options available. The current Apple iPod Nano price makes it a worth while buy.
